Protecting the natural ecosystems of the Cyclades and empowering local communities
REVIVE leader in Greece
Established in 2017, the Cyclades Preservation Fund (CPF) is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to preserving the exceptional beauty and natural value of the Cyclades islands in Greece.
The marine ecosystems of the Cyclades are home to a remarkable variety of species and habitats, many of which are under threat. Economic development, overfishing, population growth, unregulated construction, and climate change all place increasing pressure on these fragile coastal and marine environments.
CPF’s approach to conservation is rooted in local empowerment. By working closely with communities and co-designing practical, locally driven solutions, CPF aims to ensure long-term environmental protection that aligns with the needs and values of the Greek people.

Key Focus Areas
Marine Conservation
Actively working to safeguard critical marine habitats, including seagrass meadows and essential fish spawning grounds. Through its collaborative approach and guidance in establishing Greece’s first community-driven FRA in Amorgos, CPF is creating a blueprint for local ocean protection.
Sustainable Fisheries
Working directly with small-scale fishers, and promoting responsible fishing practices that balance economic needs with ecosystem health. CPF’s projects focus on reducing overfishing, restoring fish populations, and advocating for policies that ensure long-term sustainability.
Biodiversity Protection
Actively supporting the conservation of marine and terrestrial species unique to the Cyclades, including efforts to protect endangered seabirds, monk seals, and the fragile island ecosystems that sustain them, such as Posidonia oceanica seagrass..
Community Engagement
Empowering local communities by providing education and hands-on conservation opportunities. From working with schoolchildren to engaging tourism operators, CPF ensures that marine protection is embraced by all sectors of society.
Why REVIVE
Cyclades Preservation Fund holistic approach to conservation aligns with Revive Our Ocean’s mission to accelerate coastal protection.
As a small but highly effective partner in Greece, CPF is working relentlessly to the designation of the Amorgos FRA (Amorgorama) in collaboration with local fishers and conservation partners, setting a precedent for community-led marine protection in Greece.
With momentum building and in collaboration with strategic partners, CPF is expanding its efforts to Santorini, working toward a network of MPAs that safeguard biodiversity, restore marine ecosystems, and support sustainable livelihoods across the Cyclades.
Together, Cyclades Preservation Fund and Revive Our Ocean are demonstrating how strategic partnerships can drive lasting conservation impact in Greece and beyond.
We’re excited by how Revive Our Ocean’s approach to inspire, enable, and equip can supercharge our work and help embed ocean health at the heart of coastal life and livelihoods.
