In a world where coastal communities face depleted marine resources, Revive Our Ocean works to accelerate and scale coastal conservation globally.
When the ocean is fully protected from extractive activities, it recovers faster than we ever imagined, and communities benefit with better fishing, more tourism, and more economic revenue. However, the number of fully protected areas remains very low, and most think of them as a luxury or a cost, rather than opportunities to develop profitable conservation businesses.
We aim to close the gap toward 30×30, replenishing marine life, restoring coastal livelihoods and economies, and making marine protection the standard by 2030.
REVIVE OUR OCEAN
Revive Our Ocean believes that no-take marine protected areas should be treated as essential coastal infrastructure — as fundamental as ports, roads, or hotels. Just as built infrastructure supports trade, mobility, and tourism, fully protected marine areas underpin the natural systems that make coastal life and livelihoods possible.
The math is clear: every dollar invested in a marine protected area can generate $10 in economic output.

We learned that there are three main roadblocks — and therefore three main solutions — to scaling coastal marine protection:

We support efforts to advance policy reform and enable clear pathways for scaling effective MPAs, working alongside local leaders, organizations, and movements to fast-track community-driven proposals.
Through our Revive Our Ocean Collective Members, we help equip coastal communities, local governments, and businesses around the world with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to establish their own MPAs, ideally as regenerative businesses. This allows local financial benefits and independence for the people who know their waters best.
